In this case, the Wife is a foreigner in Singapore and the Husband is Singaporean.

The parties have a child together. The Wife applied for custody and care and control of the child, and also for an order that the Husband shall assist her to apply for an LTVP (Long Term Visit Pass) to remain in Singapore.

The Court declined to make an order forcing the Husband to apply for an LTVP for the Wife, as this will require him to give certain personal undertakings to the immigration authorities (ICA) against his will.

Summary: Where a foreigner spouse wants the court to compel a Singaporean to apply for an LTVP for him/her, very good reasons must be given. Otherwise, the Court will not make such an order given the prejudice to the Singaporean spouse.
